In gay civil rights news today…

Hottie Number 1It looks like Illinois may be the next state to legalize civil unions for gay (as well as straight) couples. While it isn’t full marriage rights, it is moving in the right direction. Read the full story at Joe. My. God.

The California Supreme Court will issue it’s ruling on Prop 8 on Tuesday, May 26. Keep your fingers crossed for good news, whatever you think that is. And by whatever you think that is I of course mean if you agree Prop 8 needs to be overturned. If you don’t agree with me go back to reading Ann Coulter’s blog or something.

I couldn’t find any new pics of cute couples on short notice, so here is a completely unrelated photo but fully acceptable photograph of one incredibly hot man.

Keith Olbermann rocks it for gay rights again – WTF Carrie Prejean?

I love this man. At least someone in the news industry has their head on straight. I’ll leave all the talking points to the video but suffice it to say Miss California got told! Oh snap!

Big fat gay collab

I love this song and this is a great video to go along with it.

Thank you Señor Tierney for sharing this with me!

I can’t stand hypocrites.

Carrie Prejean is a Bitch

And I can’t stand Carrie Prejean.

I’m sure you’ve read the stories about how she got breast implants for Miss America. If that weren’t enough, check this out:

If you are going to be crazy and use religion as an excuse to discriminate you better be a saint. As you can see Miss Prejean isn’t exactly the splitting image of morality here. I personally don’t see anything wrong with taking risque photos . Then again I don’t see anything wrong with two consulting adults marrying each other.

NOM head torn a new one on MSNBC

This guy (Brian Brown) is a real idiot. I don’t even know how people get these ideas into their head.

The humanities are suffering because of gay marriage!

Really? My measly blog that three people read is somehow important enough to garner ridiculous right wing comments. “Jean” left me this comment in response to my comments on the Trib article a couple days ago. I love how she even fails to use a capital letter for the word “I” – is it a sign of her submission to the same people that are using religion to continually discriminate against groups of people unlike them? And do you really think that gay marriage is an abomination to “humanities?” I hardly think that art, culture, music, and literature are suffering from the great threat that gay marriage is. She is spot on with one comment though. You can learn from your wrongs, but that does not make them “right.” The “right” has a standing history of not learning from the things they’ve done wrong.

What do you think?

Comment:
We are near the end of the world. Homosexuality is a sin to GOD, and to self. Almost everything in nature was created in pair by GOD. By promoting homosexuality rights to a marriage will be and i shall say already is an abomination to humanities. Although i have conservative values, i am neither a conservative, nor a liberal. We need to be careful with the message we are sending to our kids on a daily basis. Wrong can never be right no matter how you look at it. You can learn from your wrongdoing; however, that does not make it right.

Uninspiring editorial on civil unions @ Chicago Tribune

Men kissingThe Chicago Tribune recently posted this editorial in support of civil unions in Illinois. I find myself conflicted. I’m happy that the Trib has gone on record vocally supporting some form of gay rights yet unimpressed with the language used. The argument does little to persuade and falls short of recognizing that civil unions can only be an injured step towards the real goal of full marriage rights for same sex couples.

An editorial should fervently support an argument one way or the other. I should walk away passionately in agreement or disgust. I don’t mean to sound unappreciative, I would love for the Trib to continue publishing pro-gay rights pieces, yet in a world where Iowa can unanimously approve gay marriage rights, Vermont can override a governor’s veto blocking full marriage rights, and New York’s governor can garner national press pushing a gay marriage bill this editorial does little to inspire any real movement.

What do you think? Leave your thoughts in the comments.
